Experience the excitement of Pennsylvania’s Early American history at the 33rd annual Penn’s Colony Festival and Folk Art Marketplace. Rain or shine, the family-oriented event will be held on 12 acres of easy walking, tree-lined grounds at Penn’s Colony Village, 365 Saxonburg Blvd., Saxonburg, Butler County (just minutes north of Pittsburgh). The event recreates a bustling colonial village complete with battle re-enactments, live Irish, English and Scottish music performances, and other entertainment reminiscent of the historic French and Indian War period. In the marketplace, more than 185 juried craftsmen and artisans will showcase a variety of quality, handmade-in-America contemporary and traditional works for the home and garden, seasonal decorative items, gifts and personal accessories. There are horse-drawn surrey rides, food booths, sing-a-longs, and demonstrations of various trade and home crafts such as blacksmithing, tin-punching, needle arts and glass-blowing. There are fun colonial games and activities for children such as Nine-Pin (bowling), Potato-Stamping, and Graces. Artisans also offer hands-on activities for children and adults such as pumpkin painting and pony rides.
