For lovers of bluegrass, OATS Festival is the premier music event. Continually attracting a healthy mix of big national acts and quality regional bands, OATS offers a lineup that gets the mouth salivating for that good old timey music like grandpa played. Featuring great music, great atmosphere in a safe family oriented environment, OATS has gained a reputation for being one of the musical festivals in quality and also in enjoyment. Best enjoyed with a lawn chair, a blanket, a picnic or whatever, OATS is simply best enjoyed.
A potluck style picnic on Thursday starts the festival (all are encouraged to bring something). The music starts at the potluck and doesn’t stop till the festival ends on Sunday. Over the three full days of music that follows, over two dozen bands play nearly fifty sets. Music starts in the morning and continues straight through the day and into the late evening. People are encouraged to bring their own instruments to strum along or hold their own jam sessions at the Danny Stewart Jam Tent.
On Saturday and Sunday, workshops are held through the day on the hour. The Kidz Korner is loaded with lots of great event and activities geared for children. Perhaps the greatest lasting legacy of OATS is the Bluegrass Academy for Kids. The OATS Bluegrass Academy for Kids is a three day workshop during the festival geared towards teaching children the ins and outs of bluegrass. It is free and open to all kids who own their own bluegrass instrument and who are accompanied by a paying adult. Rustic camping is available for visitors with a weekend pass.
Admission and parking rates vary.
