Every Memorial Day weekend, the tiny town of Montandon holds their annual Montandon Community Days. This three day event is a perfect kick-off to the summer and encompasses in one way or another most of all that this map-point of a village has to offer. And while it may be a tiny affair, it is by no means a lesser one. Montandon is a proud community that respects the place it has becomes and these community days certainly exude that feel. This festival hits all the right noes, making this the perfect weekend to usher in better weather, more fun, and the general thrill of a good ole’ fashion Summertime.
Montandon Community Days starts off Friday with a game show style quiz regarding the history of the town and the area, followed promptly by an evening concert. Think of this Quiz Bowl as a hyper adrenaline academic decathlon meets tavern trivia night. There is certainly as much rigor and energy. But the bulk of the festivities occur on Saturday with a town-wide street fair accompanied by live music, children shows, games, hayrides, contests, and prizes and raffles. Sunday caps the fun with a parade through the main streets after a community church service at the festival grounds. A more reverent and austere tone accompanies the remembrance ceremony meant to honor those who served our country in the US military, and who are the real reason for Memorial Day.
Admission and most events are free. Parking is in town.
